Lighting makes up about 20% of global electricity consumption. That is a whopping 3.2 trillion watts resulting in an even more whopping 29.0 billion metric tons of CO2 emissions.

Environmentally friendly

Globally and locally, everyone wants to reduce environmental impact and make sound economic decisions. But the lighting industry has given us a no-win option - highly inefficient and polluting incandescents or fluorescents that contain mercury and other toxic substances. Fortunately, we no longer have to consider these outdated technologies, because there’s a new option.

It is easy being green!

Semiconductor-based LEDs use much less power than traditional bulbs, don’t contain mercury like fluorescents and they last for years sometimes even decades. Consuming less energy results in fewer greenhouse gases released into our environment.

When considering the sustainability of LEDs, the first aspect that generally springs to mind is low energy use. But there are plenty of others, including waste reduction, recyclability, the use of materials and resources and the effect on building and design practices.

Also, because each LED light is designed to last for 100,000 or more hours, there is less landfill waste from burned-out (and typically broken) incandescent bulbs and no dangerous mercury waste from fluorescents.

With LEDs, there is no compromise. You can have safe, affordable, beautiful lighting that makes a positive difference.
